Nitro is just the shot in the arm we needed after losing our beloved filly Lily, his half sister, only two days before his birth. He doesn't replace her, but he's a reminder that there really is a cycle to this crazy world.

Debby chose Nitro's name, and it seems to fit him with his brilliant coloring and presence and sparkling personality. Of course, the flashy color and the 4-whites are somewhat temporary...but he definitely stands out around here, and even when he greys out, he will have the flashy 4 white legs for a long time.

His head isn't quite as dished as it appears...the shape of the white blaze is a little decieving. He actually has a stunningly beautiful face with a broad forehead and beautiful eyes that I predict will be quite sexy as he matures. He's not a huge foal, but certainly not small and seems perfectly balanced, especially for one so young. It usually takes several days for them to unfold and start to appear beautiful, but he was beautiful from the minute his head popped out. Even when he was gooey and sticky, I couldn't keep my hands off of him. His body and hindquarters are amazingly solid and broad for a newborn, so we can't wait to see what he looks like in a week. He is one of the most balanced, collected movers I have ever seen, for one who took his first steps less than 24 hours ago.
