Don Marco is a constant delight......a true gentleman, with tremendous intelligence and a generous heart. He is handled daily by his amateur owner (me), and we have spent many an afternoon out under a tree in the paddock.....Don Marco happily playing with my shoelaces as I sit on the ground beneath him, eating my lunch. We have also been known to shed our saddle and all formality, and just goof off bareback in the outdoor arena.......Spanish Walking and Passaging just for the fun of it, rather than for the 'art' of it.

On the other hand, he has also left me in the dirt once or twice.

He will stand patiently for hours while his mane and tail are braided. He waits quietly for the farrier to finish his hooves, during feeding time.

On the other hand, he has absolutely no patience if he does not have my undivided attention. If I am chatting with someone in the barn, he will reach out of his stall and throw everything within his reach out into the center of the aisle until he is once again basking in the glow of the limelight.

And yet, when it is time to get down to business, all of his little eccentricities are replaced by sheer sizzling presence and electricity. This is what makes Don Marco such a special horse, and such an outstanding sire. Trainers and professional equestrians breed to him and purchase his foals, amateurs and children can train and ride his offspring. His talent, beauty, intelligence, and docility are passed onto his offspring, making them a pleasure to own, breed, ride, and/or watch.

Of the 30+ horses on this property, the Don Marco offspring shine like little diamonds, with their nearly flawless conformation, fluid movement, and puppy-dog personalities. To me, he will always be my personal ideal of an Andalusian stallion, and I feel luckier than anyone should be that his foals are even nicer than he is.
