"Ali" is out of one of our best producing mares, Heidi, and by our jack of all trades, Malibu K. We kept the first two fillies Heidi gave us (and they are gorgeous) but I have to say...I think this is the golden cross. Ali is absolutely an outstanding filly. Every time I look at her, the word that comes screaming into my head is "elegant." She has the longest legs of any foal we've had so far, and ALL of Heidi's babies are exceptionally tall. She's very upright with a short back and a great hind end. She got Malibu's big, broad chest and muscular build, a lot of his head, eyes, and pleasant expression, and his classy presence. We have had a hard time getting any good photos of her just standing there because...well...she never does that! This filly is always going somewhere or doing something. She has an inquisitive, friendly, fearless personality that has her poor mother in a constant state of worry. From the first moment that we turned them out together, Ali would have nothing to do with the normal 'stick close to mom' playground rules. Two feet in the gate and we could see the wheels turning in her little brain. She took a quick survey of her new territory, gave us a sidelong glace, and she was OFF! We could barely get the halter off Heidi before she drug us with her in hot pursuit of her fearless daughter. If you watch the video, you will see...Heidi spends most of her time chasing Ali, and if you ever see Heidi in FRONT of Ali, it's usually because she took a short cut to intercept her...or because Ali is humoring her mom for a few brief moments while planning her next adventure. It's impossible to watch them in the field...or anywhere, really...without breaking into a big smile. Stay tuned for more photos, and congratulations to the Wardman family, Ali's proud new owners! |
